Hebe ‘Strawberries and Cream’ Description

Hebe ‘Strawberries and Cream’ forms a compact evergreen mound with small green leaves edged and splashed with creamy white. Young shoots and foliage exposed to cooler temperatures develop pink and reddish tones, giving the shrub colour even outside its flowering season. Short spikes of pale mauve to lilac flowers appear in summer and provide nectar for bees. Plants generally reach around 50 to 70cm high and wide. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in moderately fertile, freely draining soil. A bright position encourages stronger pink colouring, while shelter protects the variegated foliage from severe frost and cold wind. It is particularly attractive in containers. Trim lightly after flowering without cutting back into old bare stems.
