Hebe ‘Mint Chocolate’ Description

Hebe ‘Mint Chocolate’ is a compact evergreen shrub valued for foliage that combines bright green with darker bronze, chocolate and purple tones. The strongest colouring often develops on young growth or during cooler periods, giving the plant changing interest through the year. Small flower spikes may appear in summer, adding further colour and attracting pollinating insects. Plants generally remain around 50 to 70cm high and form a dense rounded mound. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in moderately fertile soil that drains freely. Avoid waterlogged winter ground and exposed sites where cold wind can scorch the foliage. It is well suited to containers, gravel gardens and mixed border fronts. Trim only lightly to keep the natural compact shape.
