Azalea japonica ‘Luzi’ Description

Azalea japonica ‘Luzi’ is a compact evergreen azalea with small, pointed dark green leaves and a broad habit that is usually wider than it is high. Masses of clear white flowers appear during May, often completely concealing the foliage. Mature plants reach around 60 to 80cm high and approximately 80 to 90cm wide, making them useful in small gardens, ericaceous beds and patio containers. Grow in partial shade or gentle sun in humus-rich acidic soil that remains moist but well drained. It is exceptionally hardy and performs well in Ireland’s cool climate. Protect it from extreme heat, drought and cold drying winds, and use ericaceous compost when planting in pots.
