Azalea ‘Homebush’ Description

Azalea ‘Homebush’ is a bushy deciduous azalea producing dense, rounded clusters of semi-double, trumpet-shaped rose-pink flowers in late spring. The tightly packed blooms create a fuller, more formal appearance than the loose trusses of many other deciduous azaleas. Growing to around 1.5 metres high and wide, it works well as a specimen shrub or within an ericaceous and woodland border. Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained, leafy acidic soil, with shelter from severe winds. It is hardy and dependable in Ireland where lime is avoided. Mulch annually to retain moisture and protect the shallow roots, and remove spent flowers only where practical.
