Leptospermum scoparium ‘Kiwi’ Description

Leptospermum scoparium ‘Kiwi’ is a compact New Zealand tea tree with small aromatic evergreen leaves and a dense, twiggy habit. Numerous small flowers in pink to reddish shades appear in late spring and early summer, creating a colourful display over the fine foliage. Its restrained size makes it suitable for patio containers and smaller sheltered borders. Grow in full sun in acidic to neutral soil or compost with excellent drainage. It tolerates dry conditions once established but is less reliable where roots remain cold and saturated through winter. In Ireland, container growing or a warm coastal position gives the best chance of long-term success. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and remove any frost-damaged stems in spring.
