Lavatera × clementii ‘Rosea’ Description

Lavatera × clementii ‘Rosea’ is a fast-growing shrubby mallow with attractive grey-green foliage and a long season of open rose-pink flowers. Blooming begins in summer and can continue until autumn on vigorous new shoots. Mature plants generally reach around 1.5 to 2 metres high and wide, creating a broad, informal shrub that mixes well with other summer-flowering perennials and shrubs. Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Avoid heavy ground that remains wet through winter, as the roots and crown can suffer. The branches are relatively brittle and appreciate shelter from strong wind. In spring, after the worst frost has passed, prune back the previous season’s growth to a healthy framework to stimulate fresh flowering shoots.
