Lagerstroemia indica ‘Muskogee’ Description

Lagerstroemia indica ‘Muskogee’ is a vigorous crape myrtle producing large panicles of soft lavender to pinkish lavender flowers over a long period in warm summers. Smooth exfoliating bark develops attractive cream, tan and cinnamon patches on mature stems, adding winter interest after the leaves fall. In suitable climates this cultivar can become a substantial multi-stemmed tree, potentially exceeding 6 metres, although growth is usually slower and smaller in Ireland. Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil in a very warm sheltered position. Irish flowering is most reliable against a south-facing wall or in mild urban and coastal gardens. Protect young plants during severe frost. Prune only lightly in spring, removing damaged wood and maintaining a well-spaced framework.
