Juniperus media ‘Old Gold’ Description

Juniperus media ‘Old Gold’ is a broad evergreen shrub with arching branches covered in yellow-green foliage flushed with warm bronze and gold. The colour remains attractive through winter and creates useful contrast beside blue, green and dark conifers. This cultivar is also widely listed under Juniperus × pfitzeriana ‘Old Gold’. Mature plants generally reach around 1 metre high and spread 1.5 to 2 metres. Grow in full sun for the strongest colouring in almost any well-drained soil, including poor, sandy or chalky ground. It is fully hardy and drought tolerant once established. Avoid waterlogged soil, particularly through wet winters. Little pruning is needed, but overlong young shoots can be shortened without cutting deeply into old bare wood.
