Juniperus horizontalis ‘Icee Blue’ Description

Juniperus horizontalis ‘Icee Blue’, also known by the cultivar name ‘Monber’, is a very low creeping juniper with brilliant silver-blue evergreen foliage. Long trailing branches hug the ground closely and can spill attractively over walls or container edges, while winter colour may deepen slightly in cold conditions. Mature plants generally remain around 10 to 20cm high but can spread 1.5 metres or more. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in any well-drained soil, including poor, stony, sandy or chalky ground. It is exceptionally hardy and drought tolerant once established. Persistent winter waterlogging is the main condition to avoid in Irish gardens. Pruning is unnecessary, although young shoots can be shortened if they extend beyond the intended area.
