Juniperus chinensis ‘Stricta’ Description

Juniperus chinensis ‘Stricta’ is a compact, upright Chinese juniper forming a dense conical to narrowly pyramidal evergreen shrub. The foliage is blue-green to grey-green and often includes prickly juvenile needles, giving the plant a fine textured appearance. Mature specimens generally reach around 2 to 3 metres high while remaining relatively narrow, making them useful where vertical structure is required without a broad spread. Grow in full sun or partial shade in almost any soil that drains freely. It is very hardy and tolerates exposed conditions once established, but prolonged winter waterlogging can cause root decline. Little pruning is required because the natural outline is neat. Remove only damaged shoots or occasional branches that spoil the symmetrical form.
