Juniperus chinensis ‘Plumosa Aurea’ Description

Juniperus chinensis ‘Plumosa Aurea’ is an evergreen conifer with dense, feathery sprays of yellow to golden-green foliage. Its branches develop a broad, somewhat irregular mound that can become several metres across with age, so it requires more room than modern dwarf junipers. The foliage may take on warmer bronze tones during winter. Grow in full sun for the strongest golden colour in almost any well-drained soil, including relatively poor or chalky ground. It is fully hardy and becomes tolerant of dry conditions once established. Avoid waterlogged or compacted soil, particularly through wet Irish winters. Use as a specimen conifer, on a large bank or as part of mixed evergreen planting. Pruning is generally unnecessary beyond removing damaged shoots.
