Iris sibirica ‘Caesar’s Brother’ is a vigorous clump-forming perennial with upright strap-like green leaves and richly coloured purple flowers. The blooms appear in early to midsummer on stems reaching up to around 1 metre, with speckled and striped markings around the throat adding detail. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that remains consistently moist but drains well enough to avoid stagnant conditions. It is fully hardy and performs very reliably in Irish gardens, particularly beside ponds or in damp mixed borders. Improve dry soil with organic matter before planting and mulch annually to conserve moisture. Remove old flower stems after blooming and divide crowded clumps from midsummer to early autumn to restore flowering vigour.
