Hypericum ‘Magical Impression’ Description

Hypericum ‘Magical Impression’ is a compact, bushy ornamental St John’s wort bred for its strong berry display. Clusters of small golden-yellow flowers with prominent stamens appear in summer and are followed by glossy bright red fruits that hold their colour for an extended period. It is relatively late to produce its main berry display compared with some similar cultivars. Dark green foliage forms a dense background and may persist well into mild winters. Grow in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile soil that remains moist but drains freely. It is hardy and straightforward in Irish gardens. The berrying stems can be cut for arrangements, but the fruits are ornamental and should not be eaten. Prune lightly in spring to encourage fresh shoots.
