Hydrangea paniculata ‘Skyfall’ Description

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Skyfall’ is a compact deciduous shrub combining unusually large flower heads with a relatively restrained habit. Conical panicles open cream, become white and develop pale pink colouring later in the season. The individual sterile flowers have long narrow petals that give them a distinctive starry or hyacinth-like appearance. Dark reddish stems provide strong support. Mature plants generally reach around 1.2 metres high and 70cm to 1 metre wide. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It is extremely hardy and suitable for Irish gardens and large containers. Flowers develop on new growth, so prune in late winter or early spring to maintain the compact framework and encourage fresh flowering shoots.
