Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight Prime’ Description

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight Prime’ is an improved compact form of the well-known ‘Limelight’, selected for stronger stems, earlier flowering and richer late-season colour. Large conical panicles begin lime green, become creamy white and then develop pink, rose and reddish tones as summer progresses. Mature plants generally reach around 1.2 to 1.8 metres high and wide, remaining noticeably smaller than traditional ‘Limelight’. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It is fully hardy and highly reliable in Irish gardens. Flowers form on new season’s growth, so prune in late winter or early spring. Moderate annual pruning encourages sturdy stems and plentiful flowers without producing excessively large, heavy panicles.
