Hydrangea arborescens ‘Strong Annabelle’ Description

Hydrangea arborescens ‘Strong Annabelle’, commonly sold as Incrediball, is an improved smooth hydrangea with exceptionally large rounded white flower heads supported by sturdy upright stems. The blooms open greenish white, mature to bright cream-white and gradually return to pale green later in the season. Mature plants generally reach around 1.2 to 1.5 metres high and wide. Grow in partial shade or gentle sun in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist but drains freely. It is fully hardy and particularly reliable in Ireland. Flowers form on new season’s growth, so prune in late winter or early spring. Avoid excessively severe pruning if the strongest possible stems are required. Mulch annually and water deeply during prolonged dry spells.
