Heucherella ‘Solar Eclipse’ Description

Heucherella ‘Solar Eclipse’ is a distinctive foliage perennial forming a rounded mound of deeply lobed leaves with dark burgundy-brown centres surrounded by a vivid lime-green margin. The contrast remains strong through much of the growing season and becomes especially effective beside plain green or silver foliage. Fine stems of small white flowers rise above the mound during late spring and summer. Mature plants generally reach around 25 to 35cm high and 40 to 50cm wide. Grow in partial shade or gentle morning sun in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains evenly moist but drains freely. It is fully hardy and reliable in Irish gardens. Avoid hot dry sites and persistent winter waterlogging. Clear damaged foliage in spring and keep the crown exposed when mulching.
