Heuchera ‘Forever Red’

Alum Root Forever Red

Hardiness H5

Brilliant red foliage holds its colour remarkably well on Heuchera ‘Forever Red’, creating a vivid evergreen mound throughout the seasons. This compact perennial suits patio pots and border fronts, where partial shade and moisture-retentive, freely draining soil keep the foliage at its best.

Heuchera ‘Forever Red’ Description

Heuchera ‘Forever Red’ is a colourful evergreen or semi-evergreen perennial selected for its exceptionally bright red foliage. Rounded, lightly lobed leaves form a neat mound and may deepen towards burgundy during cooler weather while retaining strong red tones through the growing season. Slender flower stems may rise above the foliage in summer carrying small pale blooms. Mature plants generally reach around 25 to 35cm high and 40cm wide. Grow in partial shade or gentle sun in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains evenly moist but drains freely. Strong afternoon sun can scorch foliage where the roots become dry. It is hardy in Ireland but dislikes stagnant winter moisture. Remove old leaves in spring and keep mulch clear of the central crown.
