Helleborus ‘Vibey Velvet’ Description

Helleborus ‘Vibey Velvet’ is a striking evergreen or semi-evergreen perennial producing richly coloured flowers in deep burgundy, plum and almost black shades. The nodding blooms appear from late winter into spring above leathery dark green foliage, providing valuable colour when much of the garden is still dormant. Plants generally form a compact clump around 30 to 45cm high and wide. Grow in partial shade in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains moist but drains freely. It performs well beneath deciduous shrubs and in sheltered woodland-style borders. Remove damaged older leaves as the flower stems emerge to improve the display and reduce leaf-spot problems. Mulch annually with compost or leaf mould. All parts are harmful if eaten.
