Hebe ‘Inspiration’ Description

Hebe ‘Inspiration’ forms a compact, bun-shaped evergreen shrub with paired, glossy dark green leaves. Numerous upright racemes of rich mauve to purple flowers appear during summer and can cover much of the foliage at the height of the display. The blooms are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. Mature plants generally reach around 80cm to 1 metre high and wide. Grow in full sun or light partial shade in moderately fertile soil that drains freely. It tolerates coastal air and short dry periods once established, although shelter from severe frost is advisable in colder Irish gardens. Remove spent flower spikes and lightly trim the young shoots after flowering to maintain a dense outline and encourage a possible later flush.
