Geum ‘Firestarter’ Description

Geum ‘Firestarter’ is a compact, clump-forming perennial producing upright stems of vivid orange-red flowers above a basal mound of lobed green foliage. The blooms appear freely from late spring into summer and may repeat later when fading stems are removed promptly. Plants generally reach 40 to 50cm high and spread around 30 to 40cm, making them suitable for smaller borders, cottage gardens and patio containers. Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that remains consistently moist but drains freely. It is hardy and performs well in Ireland, where the cool growing season suits geums. Water during prolonged dry periods and divide older clumps in spring or autumn if flowering declines or the centre becomes congested.
