Garrya × thuretii is a tall, vigorous evergreen shrub, reaching up to 6m in height and spread. Its glossy dark green leaves provide year-round structure, while pendent catkins up to 8cm long appear in spring. Bushy and hardy, it thrives in coastal and sheltered Irish gardens, where it makes an excellent screen or wall shrub. Low-maintenance and pest-free, it offers reliable winter appeal.
