Garrya elliptica ‘James Roof’, or silk tassel bush, is a vigorous evergreen shrub with leathery green leaves. In midwinter, it produces long drooping catkins up to 20cm, grey-green in colour, creating striking seasonal interest. Large and bushy, it is perfect for architectural planting or wall-side borders in Irish gardens. It carries the RHS Award of Garden Merit, combining toughness with winter display.
