Gardenia jasminoides ‘Double Mint’ Description

Gardenia jasminoides ‘Double Mint’ is a compact evergreen shrub with polished dark green leaves and richly scented double white flowers. Blooms can appear repeatedly from late spring through summer when the plant receives steady warmth, moisture and feeding. Grow in a bright position with filtered light, using acidic ericaceous compost that remains evenly moist but never waterlogged. Rainwater is preferable in hard-water areas, as lime can cause yellowing foliage. Maintain good humidity while allowing air to circulate around the plant. It is not reliably hardy outdoors in Ireland and is best kept in a warm conservatory, bright indoor room or sheltered summer container that can be moved inside before cold weather. Avoid sudden temperature changes, cold draughts and disturbance around the sensitive root system.
