Fatsia japonica
Japanese Aralia
Fatsia japonica, known as Japanese aralia, is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with bold, hand-shaped leaves up to 45cm wide. In autumn it bears clusters of small white globes followed by shiny black berries. Its open, spreading form makes a striking feature in shady Irish gardens, where it thrives in damp soils. This low-maintenance shrub holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is loved by pollinators.
