Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’ Description

Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’, also known by the cultivar name ‘Cagire’, is a hardier and naturally bushier selection of cider gum. Rounded juvenile leaves are intensely silvery, while mature foliage becomes grey-blue and lance shaped. The bark peels to reveal cream, olive-green and pinkish-brown patches, and established unpruned trees may produce small white flowers from summer into autumn. Mature plants can reach 4 to 8 metres high and 2.5 to 4 metres wide. Grow in full sun in slightly acidic, moist but well-drained soil, sheltered from cold winds while young. It performs reliably in many Irish gardens. Coppice in early spring if a smaller shrub and continuous supply of rounded juvenile foliage are preferred.
