Japanese Loquat
The Japanese Loquat, Eriobotrya japonica, is a bold evergreen with large, leathery leaves that are felted beneath. Fragrant, hawthorn-like white flowers open in April and May, followed by golden fruit in warmer conditions. Awarded the RHS AGM, this large shrub offers low-maintenance, architectural presence in Irish gardens while providing fragrance and pollinator value.
