Dianthus ‘Early Love’ Description

Dianthus ‘Early Love’ is a compact pot carnation with narrow grey-green evergreen foliage and an early, generous display of richly coloured flowers. The blooms combine deep pink, rose-magenta and purple tones and are held closely above the dense mound, making the plant effective in patio pots, window boxes and border edging. It generally remains around 20 to 30cm high and wide. Grow in full sun in fertile soil or compost that drains freely, preferably with a neutral to alkaline reaction. Remove fading flowers to encourage further buds and water containers regularly without saturating the crown. Good drainage is especially important during wet Irish winters. Container-grown plants can be sheltered during prolonged severe frost to preserve their compact evergreen framework.
