Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’ Description

Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’ forms a compact evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves narrowly edged in creamy yellow. Clusters of deep pink buds open from late winter into spring into exceptionally fragrant pale pink and white flowers, making it valuable near a doorway, path or seating area. Mature plants generally reach around 1 to 1.5 metres high and wide. Grow in partial shade or gentle sun in fertile, humus-rich soil with excellent drainage, sheltered from cold winds. It can be temperamental in wet Irish ground and dislikes root disturbance or hard pruning, so choose the planting position carefully. Water while establishing but never leave the roots saturated. All parts are harmful if eaten.
