× Cupressocyparis leylandii Description

Few plants establish a tall evergreen screen as quickly as × Cupressocyparis leylandii. Dense sprays of green, scale-like foliage provide privacy and useful shelter throughout the year, making it a practical choice for boundaries, larger gardens and exposed sites. It grows in full sun or partial shade and accepts most soil types where drainage is good. Untrimmed plants can eventually exceed 30 metres in height, so the intended height and width should be decided while the hedge is young. Trim two or three times during the growing season and keep all cuts within the leafy green growth. Older bare wood does not reliably produce new shoots.
