Cotoneaster cornubia Description

Cotoneaster cornubia is more correctly written Cotoneaster ‘Cornubia’. It forms a large, vigorous semi-evergreen shrub or small tree with arching branches and long dark green leaves. Broad clusters of white flowers appear in early summer, attracting pollinating insects, and are followed by exceptionally heavy trusses of bright red berries that can persist into winter. Mature plants may reach 4 to 8 metres high and wide, so this is not a suitable choice for a restricted border. Grow in full sun or partial shade in most well-drained soils. It is fully hardy and dependable in Ireland and tolerates urban and coastal conditions once established. The berries support birds but are ornamental and should not be eaten.
