Hazel 'Red Majestic'
I hold the RHS | Award of Garden Merit
Corylus avellana ‘Red Majestic’ combines twisted branches with dark purple foliage, creating a compact spreading to semi-weeping hazel with interest well beyond winter. The leaves become greener as the season progresses, while purplish-pink catkins appear in late winter. Reaching around 2.5–4m, it is best where its unusual branching can be seen clearly.
✅ Dark purple spring foliage gives a rich early display
✅ Twisted branches remain decorative after leaf fall
✅ Purplish-pink catkins add late-winter interest
(−20 to −15 °C) Very cold-hardy
