Carex oshimensis ‘Evercream’ Description

Carex oshimensis ‘Evercream’ forms a compact evergreen clump of long, gently arching leaves. Each dark green blade has clear cream to pale yellow margins, producing a bright variegated effect throughout the year. Inconspicuous brown flower spikes appear during summer, although the foliage remains its main feature. Growing to around 30 to 40cm high and wide, it suits shaded path edges, mixed containers, courtyard planting and the front of woodland borders. Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. It is very hardy and dependable in Ireland. Remove damaged leaves individually in spring or shorten the foliage by up to half between April and July if rejuvenation is needed.
