Carex comans ‘Amazon Mist’ Description

Carex comans ‘Amazon Mist’, also listed as Carex albula ‘Amazon Mist’, forms a graceful evergreen clump of extremely fine, hair-like foliage. The silvery sage-green leaves arch outwards and curl at their tips, producing a soft, misty effect that moves attractively in the wind. Inconspicuous brown flower spikes appear on wiry stems during summer. Growing to around 35cm high and spreading up to approximately 60cm, it suits gravel gardens, border edges, naturalistic planting and containers. Grow in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil, although established plants tolerate occasional dryness. It performs reliably in Ireland. Comb through the foliage in spring to remove dead leaves rather than cutting the entire clump to ground level.
