Korean Feather Reed Grass
I hold the RHS | Award of Garden Merit
Calamagrostis brachytricha, Korean feather reed grass, forms a substantial clump of glossy green leaves topped from late summer by soft, fluffy flower plumes tinted silver-grey and purple. The flowers age to biscuit brown and persist into winter, while the foliage can turn yellow in autumn. It grows well in sun or partial shade on moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.
✅ Soft feathery flower plumes give excellent late-season texture
✅ Seedheads persist well into winter
✅ Foliage can develop attractive yellow autumn colour
(−20 to −15 °C) Very cold-hardy
