Feather Reed Grass 'Karl Foerster'
I hold the RHS | Award of Garden Merit
Calamagrostis × acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster’ is an upright feather reed grass valued for strong vertical structure without a bulky footprint. Bronze flower panicles rise above arching green leaves in early summer, fading to pale brown and remaining effective well beyond flowering. Around 1–1.5m high, it suits sunny or lightly shaded borders in most reasonably fertile, well-drained soils.
✅ Strong upright habit gives excellent vertical structure
✅ Bronze flower panicles fade attractively into winter
✅ Hardy, reliable and generally low maintenance
(−20 to −15 °C) Very cold-hardy
