Berberis × stenophylla
Golden Barberry
Berberis × stenophylla Lindl., known as Golden Barberry, is a large evergreen shrub with narrow, rigid foliage and a strong, arching habit. It covers itself in clusters of scented yellow flowers in spring, later producing blue-black berries. Bushy and medium to large in size, it has the RHS Award of Garden Merit, is low-maintenance, and brings both fragrance and colour. For Irish gardeners, it is a rewarding choice for hedges, banks, or large borders needing a hardy, long-lived shrub.
