Berberis valdiviana
Valdivian Barberry
The evergreen Berberis valdiviana slowly grows into a large, handsome shrub with glossy, nearly prickle-free leaves. In May, it drapes itself with long clusters of golden yellow flowers that resemble drops of egg yolk, later giving way to small black fruit. Large and bushy, this shrub has the RHS Award of Garden Merit, thrives in a wide range of Irish conditions, and is a fine option for hedging, slopes, or low-maintenance garden designs.
