Azalea japonica ‘White Lady’ Description

Azalea japonica ‘White Lady’ forms a low, bushy evergreen shrub with small dark green leaves and a compact spreading habit. Numerous white funnel-shaped flowers open in spring, with subtle yellow spotting in the throat adding detail to the clean colouring. It is particularly useful for brightening partially shaded borders and combines well with ferns, hostas and darker-flowered azaleas. Grow in partial shade or gentle sun in humus-rich acidic soil that remains moist but drains freely. White flowers can mark during heavy rain, so a sheltered site is preferable in exposed Irish gardens. Use ericaceous compost in containers, water with rainwater where possible and mulch annually to protect the shallow roots.
