Aucuba japonica ‘Golden King’ Description

Aucuba japonica ‘Golden King’ forms a dense, rounded evergreen shrub with large, leathery green leaves boldly blotched and splashed with golden yellow. Its foliage remains colourful throughout the year and is particularly useful for brightening full or partial shade, including north-facing borders and positions beneath trees. Mature plants reach approximately 1.5 to 2.5 metres in height and spread, making them suitable as specimens, informal screens or background shrubs. Grow in moist but well-drained soil and shelter the leaves from very cold, drying winds. It performs reliably in Irish gardens and tolerates urban pollution and coastal conditions. Avoid strong midday sun, which may scorch or bleach the foliage.
