Aubrieta gracilis ‘Florado Rose Red’ Description

Aubrieta gracilis ‘Florado Rose Red’ forms a low evergreen carpet of small, hairy green to grey-green leaves. From mid-spring into early summer, it produces short spikes of pink-purple flowers marked with tiny raspberry-pink flecks near the centre. Growing to around 10cm high, it can trail over rocks and walls, fill the front of a sunny border or provide spring colour in an alpine container. Plant in full sun in neutral to alkaline soil with excellent drainage. It tolerates exposed and coastal positions, but stagnant winter moisture should be avoided in wetter Irish gardens. Cut back lightly once flowering finishes to keep the foliage dense and neatly mounded.
