Astilbe ‘Younique Ruby Red’ Description

Astilbe ‘Younique Ruby Red’ forms a neat mound of glossy, divided green foliage topped with numerous dense crimson-red flower plumes. It begins flowering in early to midsummer, slightly ahead of many other astilbes, and creates a strong block of colour without becoming overly tall. Growing to around 50cm in height and spread, it is useful near border edges, beside ponds and in large containers placed out of strong afternoon sun. Plant in partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive soil and never allow the root area to dry completely. It is hardy and reliable in Ireland’s cool climate. Mulch annually with organic matter and divide established clumps every few years to maintain healthy growth.
