Dwarf Chinese Astilbe
I hold the RHS | Award of Garden Merit
Astilbe chinensis ‘Pumila’ is a genuinely dwarf astilbe, forming low clumps around 25cm high with deeply cut dark green leaves, often flushed red, and fluffy rosy-mauve flower spikes in late summer. It is useful where taller astilbes would be too dominant, including border fronts, rock gardens and containers, and will take more sun when the soil remains moist.
✅ Dwarf habit fits small borders and containers
✅ Rosy-mauve flowers extend colour into late summer
⚠️ Not suited to soil that dries out
(< −20 °C) Extremely hardy
