Aster ‘Little Carlow’ Description

Aster ‘Little Carlow’ forms a robust clump of upright stems with heart-shaped, toothed green leaves. From early autumn, the plant carries large branching sprays filled with small violet-blue daisies, each with a bright yellow centre. The airy display attracts bees and butterflies and combines especially well with ornamental grasses and other late-flowering perennials. Growing to around 1 to 1.2 metres, it is best positioned through the middle or back of a border. Plant in full sun or light shade in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It performs reliably in Irish gardens and tolerates some exposure, although staking may be useful in windy positions. Divide congested clumps in spring every few years.
