Anthriscus sylvestris ‘Ravenswing’ Description

Anthriscus sylvestris ‘Ravenswing’ is a dark-leaved form of cow parsley, producing finely divided foliage in deep purple to near-black shades. In late spring and early summer, branching stems carry delicate white flower umbels that create a strong contrast with the leaves. Growing to around 80cm to 1 metre, it works well among ornamental grasses, pale flowers and woodland perennials. Plant in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is usually biennial or short-lived but will often self-seed, although seedlings may vary in colour. Remove green-leaved seedlings if the darkest display is wanted. Cut back after flowering to limit seeding or leave selected plants to maintain the colony.
