Amelanchier lamarckii gives three strong seasons of interest: white flowers appear as the bronze young leaves unfold, edible red berries ripen to dark purple-black in summer, and the foliage turns orange and red in autumn. Very hardy and easy to place in sun or partial shade, it eventually becomes a substantial small tree or large shrub.
