Alstroemeria ‘Valley Girl’ Description

Alstroemeria ‘Valley Girl’ is a compact border Peruvian lily producing large orange-pink flowers over a long season from May into autumn. The warm colouring stands clearly above the leafy green clump and combines well with yellow, red and purple-flowered perennials. Reaching approximately 35 to 45cm, it has enough presence for a mixed border while remaining manageable in a large container. Grow it in a warm, sheltered position in full sun or light shade, using fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Pull faded stems from the base to maintain flowering and avoid disturbing established roots unnecessarily. Winter drainage is particularly important in Irish gardens, where persistent wet can damage the fleshy root system.
