Ajuga ‘Petite Parakeet’ Description

Ajuga ‘Petite Parakeet’ is a low-growing evergreen perennial with small golden leaves that gradually develop orange and bronze tints. The neat foliage overlaps to create a dense, cushion-like ground cover, while short spikes of bright blue flowers emerge during spring and early summer. At approximately 10 to 15cm high, it is useful near the front of a border, beneath shrubs, between stepping stones or in a mixed container. Grow it in partial shade in moist, humus-rich soil that drains well. Some morning sun can strengthen the foliage colour, but avoid dry ground and intense afternoon heat. The plant spreads steadily rather than aggressively and can be lightly trimmed after flowering to keep it within its intended space.
