Acer × freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ Description

Acer × freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ is widely grown for its reliable autumn colour and its ability to establish more quickly than many ornamental maples. It forms a large deciduous tree with a dense, broadly oval crown and deeply lobed green leaves. As temperatures fall, the foliage develops strong shades of orange and red, creating a prominent late-season display. This is a substantial tree that can eventually exceed 12 metres in height and spread beyond 8 metres, so it is best suited to larger gardens, broad lawns, driveways and landscaped grounds. Grow it in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. Allow sufficient distance from buildings, paving and smaller plants when choosing its permanent position.
