Acer palmatum ‘Sumi-nagashi’
Japanese Maple 'Sumi-Nagashi'
Acer palmatum ‘Sumi-nagashi’ is a small tree to around 4m tall, vase-shaped when young and broadening with age. Its seven-lobed leaves emerge purple-red, deepen to maroon in summer, and turn a bright scarlet red in autumn. Small spring flowers may be followed by winged fruits, adding further appeal. Low maintenance and richly coloured, it offers striking seasonal contrast for Irish planting schemes.
